I did not like this book as much as the first one, but this is a pretty good follow up book with a good mystery and lots of characters I already loved and a couple new ones too. There was a late twist almost at the end that I was not excepting. Instead of 4 characters perspectives, we get 3 which was okay but it took away the rapid paced smaller chapters of the first one. The mystery is way more complex, it reminded me of the newest Veronica Mars storyline. The book for the most part does a good job of blending the new characters with the old, I did feel at beginning it was too much of the new characters. In this one the story is more complex, and the novel pulls double duty introducing us to new characters, while catching us up with the old characters from the first book. As someone who owns the first book, I know I’ll be on the lookout for the paperback copy of One Of Us Is Next upon its release.One of Us is Next by Karen McManus is the sequel to the best selling One of Us is Lying. Regardless, it’s nice to see the second book, One Of Us Is Next being released in paperback.
Honestly, if you haven’t heard of this series, you must be living under a rock.
While I don’t think most people need a reminder, the series on the whole has been popular on #BookTok and the canceled TV series. If anything, it should help revitalize the One Of Us Is Lying series in everyone’s minds.
Honestly, I don’t see a downside to these first two books being published in paperback. For readers, it might be easier to find and buy if you’re looking for an alternative to the hardcover.Īdditionally, sometimes paperback copies are also easier to buy more of for libraries. With a book being released in paperback, it’s usually a cheaper price than a hardcover. While I featured the paperback release of One Of Us Is Lying, I made a point in that post that’s still worth reiterating. McManus’ One Of Us Is Next is coming in paperback in May. Thankfully, you don’t have to wait too long until her newest release is out along with the paperback copy of One Of Us Is Next. Her upcoming release is entitled One Of Us Is Back and it’s the final book in the series so you’ll want to get caught up. This new paperback release comes on the heels of the upcoming book in the One Of Us Is Lying series which is coming out on July 25th. On May 2nd, One of Us Is Next will be released in paperback. Obviously earlier this year, One Of Us Is Lying was finally published in paperback and it looks like its sequel is following the same trend. Her reign started with One Of Us Is Lying and eventually its sequel, One Of Us Is Next. McManus has been a cornerstone in the YA thriller genre.
